DENTAL CARE TIPS FOR MONSOON SEASON

After a sweltering summer, monsoon seasons begin weather around us becomes pleasant and monsoon craving starts.

But in our enjoyment we tend to forget, that this season not only brings along the most common diseases  but also severe dental problems and issues.

Our teeth deserves the same amount of hygiene we would keep our bodies in, as they could also suffer the same consequences as our bodies, if not taken care of.

1) CHANGE YOUR TOOTHBRUSH:

The foremost role in maintaining dental hygiene is brushing your teeth; hence it is very important, to change tooth brush which helps in removing plaque effectively. Hence, it is of prime importance to maintain the correct toothbrush and when the bristles get frayed, it is the peak time to replace your brush with a new toothbrush.

3) EAT THE SEASON’S BEST FRUITS AND VEGETABLES: Always remember to stock your fridge with healthy and fresh vegetables and fruits.

The nutritionally beneficial fruits and vegetables in monsoon are: apples, pears, strawberries, jackfruits, curd, buttermilk, bitter gourd, bottle gourd, radish, beetroot, cucumber, egg plant, ladies finger etc.

4) AVOID STEAMING HOT FOOD AND BEVERAGES: During monsoons there is an increased craving for hot tea, coffee, fried foods, and soups, . Control your sugar cravings Reduce intake of added sugar, preservatives and processed foods, as sugar attracts harmful bacteria that destroy the tooth’s enamel. And wearing of enamel causes teeth sensitivity resulting sharp pain and also leading to tooth and enamel erosion leads to exposure of dentin, exposed dentinal tubules causes sensitivity of tooth.

5) MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH DENTIST:

It is always a good idea to get your dental checkup done before, during and after monsoons as prevention is always better than cure.
