What Is Gum Treatment?

Gum treatment involves procedures to address gum disease and improve gum health. Common treatments include scaling and root planing to remove plaque and tartar, antibiotic therapy to control infections, and gum grafting to cover receded areas. Pocket reduction surgery and laser therapy may be used for severe cases. These treatments help reduce inflammation, restore gum attachment, and prevent further oral health issues. • Dr Nibras hands down is the best Dentist that I have ever met. I was having a tooth ache for almost 6 months and I had visited couple of other dentists before but that did not help me. Later one of my friend suggested Dr Niras. I visited her and in couple of appointments she helped me recover the toothache. She is very down to earth and makes the patient very comfortable and does not rush. I would highly recommend any one with any dental probem to visit Dr NIbras.

Visited Jas Dental, a dentist clinic in Koramangala near Christ University for two dental procedures. For a cavity filling and teeth cleanup, the doctor did a thorough job. I had also gone in later for a wisdom tooth extraction, the doctor explained each step to me, and the extraction was quick. *Note that for extractions, it's advisable to book an appointment a day in advance to ensure the availability of the dental surgeon.

FAQs

What is gum disease?

Gum disease, or periodontal disease, is an infection of the tissues that surround and support your teeth. It’s typically caused by poor oral hygiene that leads to plaque buildup. The two main types are gingivitis (mild form) and periodontitis (more severe).

Are gum treatments painful?

Many gum treatments are performed with local anesthesia to minimize discomfort. Post-treatment, mild soreness might occur but is usually manageable.

How long does gum treatment take?

Treatment duration varies; scaling and root planing usually take one to two hours, while more extensive procedures like gum grafting may require longer and multiple visits.

What is the recovery time for gum treatments?

Recovery time depends on the procedure. Mild treatments like scaling may have minimal downtime, while more invasive procedures might require a few weeks for complete healing.

How can I maintain gum health after treatment?

Maintaining good oral hygiene, including regular brushing, flossing, and dental check-ups, is crucial for sustaining gum health post-treatment.

Are there any risks or side effects with gum treatment?

Possible risks include temporary discomfort, bleeding, or swelling. Rarely, infections or reactions to anesthesia can occur. Following post-treatment care instructions helps minimize these risks.
